Our Chico Days!
I lived on a 400 acre cattle ranch.  So, I was able to ride Treasure out in the open.  Probably the most funniest thing that happened was when I decided to jump him over a log.  Everything was going great.  I put Treasure into a trot and over we went.  But it was what happened on the landing side that unexpectedly blew me right out of the saddle!  I guess he was so thrilled at his first jump with me that he "bucked" with joy!  Off I went.  I was so relaxed and in that forward position ready to pat him that there was no way I was going to stay seated.  You can rest assure that I was tighter in the saddle the rest of the afternoon.  Should I mention that the wind was whipping that day and I questioned myself whether to ride or not?

31/2 Years, Look at those braids!  His mane is so thick and he being so young didn't hold still too well, oh well, what do you expect!
Treasure's first jumping shows.  Davis was the first and a show in Orland, CA was the next!  He never stopped or looked twice at these jumps!

Those Ears!
The following year was relaxed rides and an occasional show with the Chico State Equestrian Team.  That is where me and Treasure did most of our jumping.  He learned on the road.  Boarding facilities with jumps in Chico was few and far between.  What gave Treasure his trust in jumping and positive attitude was his training in free jumping.  Prior to being saddled, Treasure already knew how to negotiate triple combinations and no stride in and outs.  All with a positive and willing attitude.  Jumping with a rider was never a  problem.

Picture on Left is one of my favorites!  Second show and I took him in his first jumper class!  4 years old!
