Welcome...

to Treasure's Home on the
Web!

Update 2005:  Treasure is now proudly owned by Christina Coppernath, a junior rider who has leased him for a couple of years and I felt she would give him a loving home.  He currently shows and wins in Children's Jumpers.  He was a part of my life for nearly 18 years...you might enjoy reading his story below and the pages to follow.

First Summer!

Treasure the month after I bought him.  The mare next to him, Splendor, I used to pony him every where.  She stands a solid 16.2.  As you can see, Treasure was a big youngster.
I have owned Treasure since 1988!  Time passes so fast.  It seems like yesterday that I went to pick him up.  He stands 16.2 1/2 hands and is a golden dun Thoroughbred cross.  I always call him a buckskin but when I color registered him, I learned that a buckskin does not have the dun factor (leg bar stripes, lined back, tipped ears)  all of which he has.

Photo as a stud colt.

Early Spring at Chico, California.  Yes he really gets that winter coat!  "woolly mammoth".  21/2 Years
I started Treasure western in a bosal.  We began training in the winter in Del Mar, short rides in a round pen and later the arena for about 2 weeks.   However, prior to being backed, Treasure had many sessions in the long reins.  He became confident in turning both directions, stopping and backing.

That following Spring I attended California State University, Chico.   I was lucky enough to bring my horses with me.

*************                        **************
I actually owned half of him with my dad.  But in 1992, I traded a sport horse colt out for owning Treasure 100%.  He is such a special horse, the thoughts of selling him didn't appeal to me.  He can do it all.

Another favorite picture. Love the look in his eye, however, as I remember he gave me a wild ride through the olive grove!  Look at his pursed lips and wind tossed mane!
